A Place of Meeting

Where do you meet God? Where do others meet God?

As someone who not only believes there is a God, but who also believes God walks with me, uses me and is with me always, I believe God meets me wherever I am and anytime I seek him out.

Today I spent the morning watching my wife’s uncle start a cancer treatment that could literally save his life--or at least prolong it. There is uncertainty before him, and yet he is bravely accepting the help available through modern medicine. By faith, this man is trusting what medical professionals say is best.

God, through Jesus’s love for His creation, has given us the best promises, “for he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'” In psalms, the writer asks the question, "Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again-- my Savior and my God!" (Ps 43:5) "My heart has heard you say, 'Come and talk with me.' And my heart responds, 'LORD, I am coming.' Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation!" (Ps 27:8-9)

Life’s situations may make us feel like God has abandoned us, but it is not true.

God says to each one who is struggling… "The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: 'I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.'" (Is 57:15)

Allow the grace of God to meet you where you are. He will revive you and give you courage, no matter what you face.
